The SIAM VIEW HOTEL as it was before Christmas 2004 doesn't exist anymore. 25 out of 26 rooms (some are cabanas) are gone with the sea. The restaurant is working and we are happy to reopen the Internet café last April. So far there are only four computers working for to serve the Arugam guests.

The Siam View Hotel is located directly on the white sandy beach front at the surfing end of the famous Bay. Surf point, as it is called, is a well known destination for all serious surfers for many years.

It is a perfect relaxed place for all loving couples, young families, nature lovers and water sport enthusiasts.

Due to the new office and communication centre is is also a great place to work and relax in between the pressure and stress of creation ; ideal for all professionals and businessmen.

There is a Thai-style restaurant, a bar, a games and snooker room, daily videos and music as well as a weekend beach trance party in our tropical garden.

Other restaurants are nearby offering local food in more basic settings. In the hotel grounds there are two table tennis locations, a volleyball court and the only fully equipped Internet Office and small business centre on this side of the island.

There is a Thai-style restaurant swerving Thai- and western style foods, a beachbar, daily videos and music as well as full moon beach partys in our new beach bar. Other restaurants are nearby offering local food in more basic settings.

Brief Description of our Accommodation

The SVH is unique in many ways.
Maybe our most outstanding feature is that we now offer the cheapest budget room with attached bathroom on one side of the rainbow, as well as the most amazing "Royal Suite" on the luxury end of it with prices ranging from as little as $ 2/ night to $ 250 per night, all in the same beautiful setting.
Due to this unique feature a strange mixture of clienteles is attracted to the Siam View and we have guests from all walks of life.
We know of no other hotel - anywhere, in any continent - where an airline pilot would play table tennis with a long-haired working class beach boy, where the odd diplomat would exchange views with a Brazilian labourer or where a pot-smoking drop-out would play Jenga with a Government Minister!
One thing is certain: They are all having fun, they are all on holiday and they all are amazed how much one can learn from people coming from all classes or different casts than their own. Normally and anywhere else they would never meet, talk to each other or learn to respect each other as a great human being.

Ecological considerations

The hotel exists since the last century.
But it is the only resort in Eastern Sri Lanka with a full and independent waste water recycling and purification system. There is a large power station with 100 KVa output. Important in a country with permanent and daily electricity cuts of up to 10 hrs./day. We also have two clean deep wells, water treatment systems and cool rooms.

Since the fighting on the island has stopped, property and accommodation prices have suddenly increased in  all formerly disputed areas. This is largely due to the the very large numbers of local tourists coming from Kandy and Colombo to visit the east coast they have not seen for over 20 years.
