Sri Lanka is the smallest of the south east asian states.  Located 29 km south east of India across the Palk Strait in  the Indian Ocean. Sri Lanka is made up of a  teardrop-shaped main island and groups of smaller islands.  It has called one of the most beautiful islands in the world  with its lush jungles, dramatic interior and fabuloes  beaches.

The 1200 km of coastline are primarily pristine, coral fringed beaches, basking in the sun beneath towering and   jutting coconut palms, careseed by the lapping azure waters of the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal.

Thirty one percent of the island is mountainous jungle with nestling, ancient cities such as Polonnaruwa and  Anuradhapura.

The Siam View Hotel is situated in Arugam Bay, Pottuvil in the Ampara District. 314 km away from Colombo,   with a population of 27000 it is mainly warm and sunny with no climatically off-season. Temperatures range between 22C to 33C all year.

There are frequent bus services from Colombo Fort direct to Pottuvil.  The town is 5 km north of the bay. There   are no train services. The best way, however, is by hired car or motorbike. Off course we will pick you up from   the airport or any other location on the island. Please call the co-ordinating centre 063 481 95 and we will give   you the mobile number of the driver of our vehicle nearest to your location.

" To me the beauty of Ceylon lies not so much in its blue seas and golden beaches, its jungles and its mountain peaks, as in its ancient atmosphere. There is no nation, from Egypt of the Pharaos to modern Britain, in whose literature this island has not at same time mentioned by one or other of its many names. Lanka, Serendip, Taprobane, Cellao, Zellan to recall a few.

History lies buried in its sands, and ghosts of romance lurk along its bastioned rocks, for Lanka is very, very old. "
