Our Internet Office reopened in April 2005.
The connection is via a lease line to the main server
and we offer good, stable broadband in this very remote
location.
The entire SVH is also covered with a WiFi wireless LAN
system; so our guests and visitors are online at any
time, everywhere.
Our systems are expensive, so is the connection.
We raise a charge and all visitors are expected to
contribute:
All locals can use the Internet at any time fore
FREE; so you are directly assisting poor locals by using
our Internet facilities.
Special thanks to Mme Anne-Marie of France, who
managed to raise the finance for the first month of high
speed line rental for our Community Internet Centre.
All
our 14 PCs and 4 IBM laptops have gone with the waves. Now we just started
with two old PCs. Financial support is urgently required.
To get connected to the rest of the world is important
for all of us in Arugam Bay.
Communication is the answer to most problems.
